On the occasion of the Week of Club Culture, Emergent Bass offers you something very special to get more insights in the roots of Berlin’s underground club culture and to understand what makes our spaces so special: an exclusive visit to our cooperation partner Archiv der Jugendkulturen! Germany’s largest archive on youth and subculture collects diverse evidence from and about the history of Berlin club culture. Daniel Schneider, co-curator of our panels & exhibitions at the Emergent Bass events, will give you an insight into the collection directly on site at the archive, focusing on sources that bear witness to the influence of black music culture on Berlin nightlife. At the same time, he will also discuss the frequent invisibility of BIPoC scenes and communities, the gaps in the tradition, and a critical look at the historiography of club culture.
Please register until 10/06/2022 to daniel.schneider@jugendkulturen.de—the number of participants is limited.
